| Description | Individuals performing fire alarm system inspections, testing, verification or maintenance must be qualified and accountable for the quality of their work. There is a need for these individuals to have a minimum level of formal training and verified area-specific skills and knowledge. The Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA) has created an approved Registered CFAA Trainee Technician program comprised of five theory-based courses. To become a registered CFAA Fire Alarm Technician, you must obtain necessary skills and hands-on training in the workplace. The combination of theory and on-the-job experience will serve to increase the level of the competence of the industry's fire alarm technicians. Once you have completed the five courses (or completed courses 1 and 5, listed below, and obtained equivalency for courses 2 to 4) in the required CFAA theory, you can become a registered CFAA Fire Alarm Technician Trainee. You will then be able to take both the CFAA Registration Theory Exam and Practical Exam to become a registered Fire Alarm Technician. For a general overview, visit www.cfaa.ca/TrainingProgram.aspx. |
