Siemens Mechatronics Systems Certification (SMSC) - Level 1
Program Code | 0000 |
Program Name | Siemens Mechatronics Systems Certification (SMSC) - Level 1 |
Description | The Siemens Mechatronics Systems Certification Program (SMSCP), Level One, is the first of three certifications in a series. The combination of electrical, mechanical and computer engineering, integrated in a complex system, is known as mechatronic systems. These complex systems play an ever-increasing role in modern manufacturing technology. Siemens has developed a comprehensive industry skills certification, which Centennial College is delivering, as an industry partner. The total classroom commitment is 240 hours over two semesters, with four courses to be completed. For students enrolled in Centennial Colleges Electromechanical Engineering Technician/Technology Program , partial credit in a course may be arranged at the discretion of the professor, for those portions of curriculum already covered in a day school course. Completion of the course work does not guarantee certification. Certification requires successful completion of the Siemens Certification exam. The exam is not included in this course, and is solely administered by Siemens for an additional fee. Benefits: Upon completion of the courses, the learner will be able to understand and explain the principle operations of the mechatronics subsystems within a complex system. Level One certificate holders will be able to demonstrate proven ability in troubleshooting and a system-thinking approach. These skills are highly sought-after in high-tech and advanced manufacturing industries. Program Length: 2 semesters Fall 2019 - 3 course co-requisites - all 3 courses must be taken concurrently (at the same time): SMSC-101 Electrical Components (Thursdays) SMSC-103 Electro-Pneumatic and Hydraulic Control Circuits (Tuesdays) SMSC-105 Electricity and Fluid Power in Mechatronics Systems Winter 2020 - 3 course co-requisites - all 3 courses must be taken concurrently (at the same time): SMSC-102 Mechanical Components and Electrical Drives (Tuesdays) SMSC-104 Digital Fundamentals and PLCs (Thursdays) SMSC-106 Mechanical and PLC Fundamentals |
