Description | Field Placement is an essential part of social service work education. Students will have the opportunity to apply theory to practice within a social service work setting. As a "professional in training", students will be gaining experience in contributing to the goals and activities of the agency by observing professionals in action, as well as learning about their clients, programs, policies and expectations. The course will focus on facilitating students' development of the skills, knowledge, and attitudes that are necessary to enter the field as a social service work practitioner. |
Notes | Course Learning Outcomes: Construct and negotiate with agency supervisor a learning contract that sets appropriate learning goals using program guidelines and standards while meeting the service needs of the agency. Discuss the clients, special populations and the programs and services provided by the agency. Explain agency policies, procedures, protocols, and expectations. Demonstrate appropriate communication skills in a professional setting. Conduct oneself appropriately as a professional in training. Apply and use the information provided in the Social Service Worker Field Placement Manual. Seek and implement feedback from your Field Supervisor and College Liaison. Review and comply with the standards of practice and Code of Ethics as a Social Service Worker. |
