Description: This section provides an overview of fire prevention activities engaged in by the firefighters. Principles, practices and procedures involved in fire prevention inspection will be outlined. Legislation, regulations, standards and fire prevention resources agencies will covered. It covers public education initiatives including classroom Fire Safety presentations and home safety plans. Building construction, and it's impact of fire systems and fire damage is explored. An introduction to the basic principles of fire cause determination and scene preservation are also included in this course. All subjects and material in the course comply with National Fire Protection Association 1001 Firefighter 1 and 2 standards and will be within the scope of reference for the NFPA certification examination held at the end of the semester.
