|Description||This course will prepare you to carry out your role as emergency management practitioners, incident managers, incident commanders and responders managing and operating a virtual emergency operations centre (VEOC). It will prepare you to effectively lead, plan and or participate in the planning and operations in your organization and or community emergency operations centre: making effective us of the technology while responding to an incident as well as providing the necessary support to the site management teams during scalable single and or multi-sites incidents.
This course is designed for individuals involved in emergency management, public health and safety, security and business continuity management being part of a team where the use of multiple forms of technology can assist in incident response and recovery. Participants will develop their knowledge of principles and concepts of incident management functions through their implementation in a virtual world. Students will gain new skills and hands on experience through the use of presentations, group work, exercises and simulations in a virtual environment.
By the end of this course you will be knowledgeable in the application of various forms of technology in effective incident management, as well as the implementation of various technical tools related to software applications, emerging technology, social network modeling, structure and media, their application and most effective uses in applied incident management, communications and coordination.
• Incident management escalation and plan activation;
• EOC leadership and management; working with a virtual team;
• Design and implementation of a virtual EOC;
• Management of EOC functions and activities using various forms of technology ;
• Need for and use of tools for both on-line and voice communications;
• Virtual briefings and action plan management;
• Virtual incident management hands on practice
• Best practices and case studies in effective use of technology
• Application of Emergency Management and BCM Standards
Basic Emergency Management (BEM) and or approved equivalent, and/or hands on experience in Emergency Management, or have knowledge of Emergency Operations Centre concepts.

The course is intended for emergency management practitioners, incident managers, incident commanders and responders who will have a participating role in the EOC, or applying technology in a virtual incident management environment.
