|Description||In the Inventory Control course, which is part of the curriculum for obtaining a certificate in operations management, you will be introduced to inventory management and control.
The offering, consisting of two tests and in-class participation in assignments, quizzes, group work, casework and more, will teach you successful inventory planning and control techniques used by both manufacturing and services businesses.
Among specific topics that will be covered in Inventory Control are functions of inventory, inventory analysis, demand management, independent demand inventory control systems, forecasting, how to determine safety stock, computerized inventory systems and physical control of inventory.
Once you complete the offering, you will be able to demonstrate the ability to:
•Describe the functions of inventory and costs associated with carrying inventories;
•Forecast demand using various forecasting techniques;
•Analyze inventory and classify them as either A, B, or C class;
•Establish inventory systems to reduce inventory and to properly control the physical inventory;
•Calculate safety stock requirements based on desired service levels.
