Course Name	Field Placement 1: Infant and Toddler
Category
Description	Assigned to an infant/toddler childcare setting and working under the guidance of a qualified early childhood educator, students will apply the basic principles of practice that they are learning in the classroom. During this placement experience, students will begin to develop a sensitive awareness of each child's uniqueness by offering time for uninterrupted play, the opportunity to make choices, and the freedom to explore and interact with others. Faculty supervisors, who will visit agencies at pre-arranged times, will observe students in action with the children, clarify student expectations and responsibilities and provide feedback regarding strengths and needs. Final grades will be assigned based upon the competencies and grading system outlined in the field manual
Notes	1. Minimum C grade 2. This is a field experience, in a Centennial College approved field setting, of 25 days (eight hours per day). Students will work with the Program Coordinator and the Field Coordinators to define start date, number of days/wk (MIN 2 days/wk), and shift hours. 3. A current Vulnerable Sector Check, Medical, and First-Aid/CPR Certificate are required before registering for this course. Proof of documentation will be requested before being placed at an agency 4. Prior Learning and Recognition (PLAR) is not granted for this course. Prior to registering for placement, please ensure you have the following: • A current Police Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector- valid within 6 months • A valid First Aid/ CPR (Level C) certificate • A clear Medical Certificate for the Early Childhood Education Program Once you have these documents, please connect with your success advisor, Audrey Le, for assistance with registration. audreyle@centennialcollege.ca
