The main skills learners will gain upon completion of the Electrical Utility Control Centres (System Control) include how to monitor and maintain safe operations of electrical control station

The student will reliably demonstrate the ability to:

1. Defining electrical symbols used in maps and overview of various map types, including one-line diagrams and GIS mapping.
2. Introduction to asset management for electrical components, including transformers, circuit breakers, and more.
3. Introduction to Electrical Outage Management and its Lifecycle.
4. Exploration of the tools and technology used for fault reporting and verification
5. Explore strategies for restoring power, including switching operations, load shedding, and grid reconfiguration.
6. Explore the role of control rooms in maintaining electrical grid operations
7. Discussion of key electrical safety protocols, such as LOTO procedures, grounding systems, and live-line maintenance
8. Explanation of the work request process, focusing on how tasks are initiated, authorized, and executed.
9. Importance of short-term system studies for reliability and quick decision-making. n-1 and determining peak loads
10. Exploring Ferranti effect and Surge impedance loading

Notes Admission Requirements:

Graduate of a recognized certificate, diploma, or degree program in a relevant field
such as Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Energy Systems, or related disciplines OR, Mature students that demonstrate competencies through work experience or relevant educational background.
