Early Childhood Education

Program Code 7010
Program Name Early Childhood Education
Description Our Early Childhood Education (ECE) program offers in-depth learning experiences, focusing on the developmental stages of childhood.

All students entering ECE programs must have an English assessment first. Please call 416-289-5300 or visit centennialcollege.ca/assessment for information or to book your assessment online. You must be at COMM-160 or COMM-161 level to begin this program.

Due to the nature of the ECE program, students must provide a recent Police Reference Check prior to each field practicum and required courses. A criminal record or charges pending before the courts in regard to crimes against vulnerable populations may determine eligibility for courses and completion of the program.

Note: This program requires that some assignments and all practicums occur in full-time, weekday childcare settings or full-day kindergarten programs that are being supervised by Registered Early Childhood Educators.
Admission Requirements Upon successful completion of the four units outlined below, you will receive an Early Childhood Education Diploma and will be recognized in the field as a fully-qualified Early Childhood Educator.

If you are a new student to our program, need any assistance with your course planning or if you are a student who has not taken any courses in the past years, please contact TDittmann@centennialcollege.ca

Notes You must complete each semester of study before continuing with the next semester. This also includes field placements. A minimum of C grade is required in all core ECE courses to continue within the program.

Graduates will then be required to join the College of Early Childhood Educators to practice as an RECE. For more information on this process go to http://www.college-ece.ca/
