description:  This Provincial certification course provides an overview of the emergency management in Ontario including systems, processes and key elements focusing on prevention, mitigation, preparedness for, response to and recovery from emergencies and disasters. Through a variety of presentations, case studies, group work and simulations, you will learn about the key provisions of the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act.

You will gain knowledge about essential roles and responsibilities of all level of government (local, provincial and federal) with key organizations involved in emergency management, how they interrelate and apply. The principle elements of creating and maintaining a community and organizational emergency plan and resilience will be highlighted.

Duration/ delivery: 2 days in classroom setting, includes an exam and provincial certification. The course is facilitated by provincial / local certified instructors.

Certificate: Upon completion, you will receive a certificate of completion from Emergency Management Ontario. This certification is the prerequisite for more advanced courses offered by EMO and the Canadian Emergency Preparedness College in Ottawa

All course material will be provided and no special equipment is required.
