|Course Name||Basic Brakes and ABS Theory|
|Description||During practical sessions, you will demonstrate how to identify brake components and perform a thorough brake inspection using specialized tools. Further, you will demonstrate various services such as brake friction material replacement and related hydraulic component services. Finally, you will be required to complete an assignment that will encompass the learning strategies used during theoretical and lab classes.
Among specific topics covered in Basic Brakes and ABS Theory are brake part components, tools, analysis of inspection, applying analysis and repair, hydraulic component inspection and basic service, and replacing hydraulic components and bleeding procedure.
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
• Demonstrate knowledge of basic brake systems (identify components that apply to current brake systems and explain how braking systems operate, Pascal's Law and how it supports the vehicle's hydraulic system, and anti-lock operation);
• Inspect brakes using required tools (prepare for conducting brake inspection and carry out a thorough inspection; differentiate key areas that require measuring tools such as micrometer, analyzer and brake line tool; and generate and summarize information based on the brake inspection using a structured inspection form);
• Perform brake service (prepare a brake inspection form for analysis, use the analysis to solve the current problem and carry out the necessary repair);
• Service hydraulic components (inspect hydraulic components, basic hydraulic service that can be conducted without part replacement, replace hydraulic component and perform the hydraulic fluid bleeding and procedure).
