Linux Advanced Configuration

Course Code CCTC-203
Course Name Linux Advanced Configuration
Category Information Technology & Computers
Description Building on CCTC-201 and CCTC-202, this course explores advanced features of Linux desktop and server systems. Students will learn shell scripting, SQL data management, user account management, system administration, scheduled job execution, IPv4 and IPv6 network configuration, and port scanning. Through prescriptive step-by-step labs, students will configure user shells, window managers, display managers, text-to-speech and Braille utilities, mail and print servers, host and network security, and encrypted network tunnels.

This instructor-led course is the third of three courses in the Centennial College curriculum for Linux Professional Institute certification. Courses in this series help prepare students for entry level positions as software developers or Linux administrators as well as Cybersecurity Operations. When combined with the CCNA Routing & Switching curriculum, the courses prepare students for network engineering positions. The courses leverage the advanced flexibility and capabilities of the Cisco Networking Academy learning environment to implement a "practice as you read" approach to learning. The courses include in-class activities, hands-on labs and a wide array of assessment types and tools.

This course aligns with exam objectives of the Linux Professional Institute (LPI) LPIC-1 Exam 102 certification exam and the CompTIA Linux+ Powered by LPI LX-104 certification exam. Upon successful completion of the course, the student is eligible to receive a congratulatory letter from LPI documenting that the student has completed the course and providing information on discounts for certification exams.

NOTE: In addition to the course fee, the course has a mandatory lab fee of US$29.95 (subject to change) payable to the lab sponsor at the beginning of the semester and before the student receives access to the course material.
