Description This graduate certificate program lays the foundation for successful teaching of English as a Second Language. The program focuses on the key theoretical areas of methodology, linguistics, grammar, and teaching skills. The theory is applied through observations of ESL classes and practiced in a monitored practicum. Students graduating from TESL Part 1 are eligible for work in private language Institution's across Canada and overseas.
Admissions Requirements 1. A University degree;
2. Non-native speakers of English must have the equivalent of IELTS Academic (overall 7 with a minimum of 7 in each skill area) or TOEFL iBT (overall 101 with a minimum of 23 in listening, 24 in Reading, 27 in Speaking and 27 in Writing)
3. All applicants must complete Centennial College supplemental application form
